Job Title: IT - Network Engineer IIILocation: Raleigh, NC/RemoteDescription:Our client is seeking a Systems Engineer to administer/troubleshoot Proxy and DNS technologies such as Broadcom Bluecoat and Blue Cat DNS on various projects. The role requires a technically savvy consultant who can troubleshoot existing complex Blue Coat implementations and lead in the design and implementation of new enterprise-wide or global Blue Coat product deployments.A deep technical understanding of Blue Coat Application Delivery Network technology pillars including Visibility, Acceleration, and Security solutions.Highly specialized in one or more phases of software systems development, systems integration, or network engineering. Provides technical assistance and advice on complex activities. Formulates / defines specifications, develops / modifies / maintains complex systems and subsystems, using vendor engineering releases and utilities for overall operational systems. Applies analytical techniques when gathering information from users, defining work problems, designing technology solutions, and developing procedures to resolve the problems. Develops complete specifications to enable computer programmers to prepare the required programs. Analyzes methods of approach. Reviews task proposal requirements, gathers information, analyzes data, prepares project synopses, compares alternatives, prepares specifications, resolves processing problems, coordinates work with programmers and engineers, and orients users to new systems. Works with considerable freedom to make decisions on the techniques and approaches to be used. Prepares recommendations for system improvement for management and user consideration.Activities will include:Configure, administer, document DNS multi-view configuration, DHCP services.High level troubleshooting of network, protocols, and application issuesIP mgmt., DNS, DHCP administrationAPI scripting in python.Linux administration to include scripting and file system management.Adhere to strict Information Systems security guidelines in all cases.Works on high-visibility, or mission critical aspects of a given program, and performs all functional duties independently.Oversees the efforts of direct reporting resources and/or be responsible for the efforts of all staff assigned to a specific job.Required Skills:HTTP proxy configuration, integration, and administration expertise. Preferred Broadcom BluecoatDNS configuration, scripting of API calls. Preferred Blue Cat NetworksStrong understanding of TCP/IP, UDP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/s and HTTP proxy.IP Mgmt, DNS, DHCP configuration, scripting of API calls.Strong understanding of TCP/IP, UDP/IP, DNS, DHCPKnowledge of TCP, understanding network, protocol, and application traffic flowsAbility to troubleshoot basic network issues including IPv6.Network knowledge.Network design and implementation.Network troubleshooting.Tracking budget expensesProject managementProblem solving and analytical skills.Time-management skillsStrong documentation skillsLAN knowledgeNetwork hardware configuration.Network performance tuning.Ability to maintain effective communication and working relationships with co-workers.Roles/responsibilities:1 DNS Management:Configure and manage DNS servers, zones, and records.Ensure DNS resolution is reliable and responsive.Implement DNS security measures such as DNSSEC and DDoS protection.2 DHCP Administration:Maintain DHCP servers and address pools.Monitor and manage IP address assignments and lease durations.Troubleshoot DHCP issues and optimize address allocation.3 IPAM Operations:Perform IP address planning, allocation, and tracking.Manage IP address space and subnets using IPAM tools.Ensure accurate IP address utilization and reporting.4 Network Infrastructure Support:Collaborate with network engineers and administrators to integrate DDI services with the network infrastructure.Troubleshoot network connectivity issues related to DNS and DHCP services.Participate in network design and optimization projects.5 Security and Compliance:Implement and enforce security policies for DNS, DHCP, and IPAM services.Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and industry standards.6 Documentation and Reporting:Maintain up-to-date documentation of DDI configurations, changes, and procedures.7 Incident Response and Resolution:Respond to incidents related to DNS, DHCP, and IPAM services in a timely manner.Diagnose and resolve service disruptions, outages, or performance issues.Escalate critical issues to higher support levels as needed.Education Requirements: A minimum of eight (8) to twelve (12) years relevant experience. A degree from an accredited College/University in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field or equivalent experience. Four (4) additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a college degree is required. If the individuals degree is not in the applicable field, then four additional years of related experience is required.Certifications:Certification in networking technologies (e.g., CCNA, CompTIA Network++).Desired Skills:Experience with APIs, scripting, and Splunk data flows. Preferred Perl, python, and JavaScript.Strong understanding of DNS and DHCPLinux administration to include scripting and file system managementProficient with application layer protocols HTTP, SSH, SSL, etc.Blue Cat DNS PlatformInfoblox DNSAdditional Provisions:Must be able to obtain a Position of Public Trust ClearancePass both a client mandated clearance process to include drug screening, criminal history check and credit check.Once a candidates resume is approved and interview passed, the agency is responsible for providing drug screening. Failure to submit the drug screening results will delay the security clearance process.If a candidate is given an interim clearance, continuation of employment is then based on the candidate receiving a sensitive clearance.All candidates must be a US Citizen orsidence status (Green Card).Candidate must have lived in the United States for the past 5 years.Cannot have more than 6 months travel outside the United States within the last five years. Military Service excluded. (Exception does not include military family members.)All overtime must be pre-approved in writing by the client manager or his/her designated representative.Agency will not be reimbursed for overtime charges without previous written authorization.
